VW Touareg by
Wimmer RS
Wimmer RS has
an eye for tuning, and this particular modified Volkswagen Touareg doesn’t
state otherwise. The 7P5 Touareg
still lends itself beautifully to modding. That’s why the German company took
advantage of the SUVs clean lines and powerful engines, transforming the model
into what looks like a Golf on steroids – while still keeping the overall
aspect simple.
The enhancements
were performed on a stock 204 HP and 450 Nm of torque
3.0-liter TDI variant, as Wimmer began by implementing a minor software
optimization, a Variant 3 KW adjustable coilover suspension system, and a new
set of rims. The end
result is a 2.2-ton vehicle, which sends 240 PS and 712 Nm of torque to four BBS CH-R 21-inch rims wrapped in 295/35-21 tires.
Completing
the modifications list is an in-house designed exhaust system and the tuner’s
typical lateral body vinyls, but Wimmer says there are more to follow, as the
company plans to upgrade the 3.0-litre TDI mill to 310 PS and 813 Nm of torque – almost throwing it into the 4.2-litre V8 diesel’s
territory. If in standard guise the 3.0-litre Touareg goes from 0 to 100 Km/h in 8.5 seconds, all the way to its 206 km/h top speed, just
imagine what it will do with an additional 106 PS and 363
Nm of torque.
