2017 Kawasaki Z650
The Kawasaki Z650 takes the place of the Kawasaki
ER-6n in the brand’s global lineup.
The new Z650 has taken some inspiration from the
Kawasaki Z900 that made its debut alongside at the Milan Motorcycle Show, like
some styling cues and some technologies such as the assist and slipper clutch,
but the braking system is governed by the Bosch 9.1M ABS rather than the module
by Nissin on the Z900.
The chassis is mildly different enabling the seat
height to come down to 790 mm, but the kerb weight is not significantly
different at 187 kg. The engine is the same 649 cc parallel-twin motor that
powers the ER-6n, but has been tweaked for improved low-to-mid range torque,
smoother throttle response and lesser fuel consumption.
The maximum power of the Z650 is 68 PS at
8,000 rpm and the peak torque is 65.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The company says that
the Kawasaki Z650 has a fuel economy of 28 km/l (66 mpg). The fuel tank has a
capacity of 15 litres.
The new Kawasaki Z650 measures 2,055 mm in length,
775 mm in width, 1,080 mm in height, and 1,410 in wheelbase. It will be offered
four colour themes – Candy Lime Green with Metallic Spark Black, Pearl Flat
Stardust White with Metallic Spark Black, Metallic Raw Titanium with Metallic
Spark Black, and Metallic Flat Spark Black with Metallic Spark Black.
