2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR
Updated for 2017 is the MV Agusta Brutale RR, which
now comes with 140 hp at 13,100 rpm and 86 Nm torque at 10,100 rpm. The Brutale RR is now Euro 4 compliant.
A total rework of the three-cylinder engine’s
internals includes a new harmonic damper and a mechanical cam chain tensioner
that supercedes the previous hydraulic unit. This is combined with new cams and
valve guides made from new materials to reduce mechanical stress and vibration.
Noise proofing has be increased on the sides of the
engine, which doubles as crash-protection. Inside the gearbox, a new primary
transmission improves reliability, and the gearing system has been redesigned
to improve shifting.
New for 2017 is a full ellipsoid LED headlight,
while bigger exhaust cans allow the Brutale RR to comply with Euro 4 emissions
standards. Other goodies for the new year are the split seat, concealed
passenger grab handles, lightweight alloy seat sub-frame and a 16.5-litre fuel
tank.
On the suspension side, a Marzocchi upside-down fork
suspends the 2017 Burtale RR’s front end, while a Sachs monoshock handles
suspension duties at the back. Both items are fully-adjustable, and work
together with an eight-position manually adjustable steering damper.
Electronics on MV Agusta’s naked sportsbike have
also been upgraded, with the Varese firms EAS 2.0 system updated with new
ride-by-wire throttle mapping and two-qay quickshifter. Traction control is
standard with MV’s MVICS, adjustable to eight levels, and the instrument panel
includes on-board diagnostics.
Bosch 9 Plus ABS is standard fitment, with braking
done by Brembo front and rear, with a pair of 320 mm floating discs and 220 mm
disc, front and rear respectively. Two colour options are available –
Ice/Metallic Carbon Black and Pearl Shock Red/Metallic Carbon Black.
