2017 Renault Kwid (Brazil)
A lightly-camouflaged Renault
Kwid has been spied testing in Brazil, ahead of its local debut at the 2016 Sao
Paulo Auto Show. It is confirmed to go on sale in Brazil in early
2017, where the units sold will be imported from India.
The Brazil-spec Kwid gets an
exclusive orange color option, which looks similar to the new Renault Duster’s
‘Cayenne Orange’. It also gets multi-spoke alloy rims and a rear windshield
wiper, which are not available in the India-spec Kwid. Otherwise, the model
arriving in Brazilian showrooms next year isn’t much different to
the India-spec Kwid.
The major difference is that the
Brazil-spec Kwid is around 130 kg heavier than the Indian model, much of which
is attributed to strengthening the body construction as well as other
equipment. It is available with dual front airbags, side airbags and ABS as
well.
As for engine options, Renault Brazil may drop the 0.8L engine option due to its
average performance, thus leaving the car with the 1.0L 12v three cylinder SCe
engine. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while it’s
unclear if the 5-speed Easy-R AMT gearbox equipped in the India-spec model will
make the cut.
