2017 Zero Line-up
Zero Motorcycles has upgraded its range of electric
bikes with more power and torque for 2017, while introducing two new
learner-legal models. A new motor across the range is claimed to allow more
aggressive riding and longer sustained high speeds, while delivering up to
107 lb-ft in the top-spec SR model and its more dirt-focused sibling, the DSR.
The learner-legal models are lower-powered versions
of the Zero S and Zero DS, rated at 15 hp instead of 28 hp. That means they fall
within the limitations of a learner or A1 licence despite making 78 lb-ft of
torque.
Zero says they’ve got lighter and more compact power
packs, saving 43 kg and freeing-up space for a lockable storage compartment. The
FX and FXS models – trail and supermoto versions of the same machine – are also
lighter thanks to a new integrated battery.
Zero also made some improvements with its 2017
lineup that are applicable to all models. The company introduced a new
“high-quality paint application process replaces the previous molded-in color
body panels, which underwent extensive scratch and fade resistance testing to
ensure exceptional durability” and it also updated its mobile app, which now
enables OTA updates of the bile’s software.
Zero has been expanding its dealer network too, and
now has four in the UK.
