China 2016, VW had revealed the T-Prime Concept GTE that previews a future
full-size crossover. Indianautosblog’s graphic artist, Shoeb R Kalania, has here created a
rendering of the production-spec model based on the concept which international
publications regard as the precursor to the next gen VW Touareg.
The concept
model is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.0-litre TSI
four-cylinder petrol engine developing 182 hp and 370 Nm of torque and an
electric motor generating 99 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Power is sent through an
8-speed automatic gearbox to the wheels via VW’s 4MOTION permanent all-wheel
drive system with a limited-slip differential.
Reports on
the web expect the production VW Touareg to debut in 2018 with three-row
seating.
