Alfa Romeo
BAT 11
The Alfa
Romeo BAT 11 concept from 2008 was a continuation of the B.A.T. line of Bertone
concept cars from the 1950s which were characterized by dramatic styling wings.
BAT stands for Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica.
The Alfa
Romeo BAT 11 was based on the Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione platform. The concept
was commissioned by car collector Gary Kaberle who previously owned the Alfa
Romeo BAT 9.
One of the
more unusual features of the BAT 11 concept, aside from the massive rear wings,
were the aerodynamic front wheel covers. These can move during low speed
corners to allow for full steering lock. The 21 inch turbine styled wheels
featured carbon fibre spokes.
