All-New Ford GT Race Car
Ford brought out this year's Le Mans GTE-Pro Class-winning car.The all-new GT is still wearing its battle scars, which it picked up
during a battle that saw it edge out a Ferrari 488, taking the lead in the 20th
hour of the race.
The car raced under the Chip Ganassi umbrella, which
is the only team owner in history to have won the Indy 500, Daytona 500,
Brickyard 400, Rolex 24 at Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring and more recently the
Le Mans 24 Hours.
Powering the GT race car is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6
engine that made its debut in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship back in
2014, though there are plenty of other mods that deliver high levels of
downforce and improved stability.
Last year, Ford even gave us a taste of what the GT
race car sounds like when being pushed around a track. Safe to say, it's
anything but subtle. Still, this isn't the only GT showcased by Ford at
this year's LA Auto Show, as they also brought along an exceptionally-well
restored GT40 - itself a Le Mans winner back in 1966.
