Daihatsu Hi-Max (Indonesia)
PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) launch the new Hi-Max
pick in two variants price, IDR 93.3 million for the standard
variant and IDR 103.3 million for a deluxed variant which is equipped with
power steering, air-conditioning and the sliding drivers seat. Non-standard variant features power steering, a one way type tub deck and
single DIN MP3 audio.
Hi-Max uses the same platform with the new
generation of Hijet in Japan. Hi-Max is like a fusion Hijet and Gran Max. Hi-Max has 3.395 m length, 1.475 m wide, 1.77 m high and
1.9 m wheelbase. Similar body size as kei truck weighing 1,739 kg and has a 4 m turning radius.
Size tubs that carried Hi-Max, length of 1.935 m, a width of
1.395 m, and height of 0.285 m. Claimed 750 kg payload capability, although
once Pradipto Sugondo, Executive Officer of Research and Development Astra
Daihatsu Motor to explain can be maximized up to 1 ton. The exterior is
designed with compact dimensions, making Daihatsu Hi-max capable of maneuvering
in narrow urban streets. Meanwhile, the interior is functional designed.
In Japan Hijet using a 660 cc engine, while the
Hi-Max has 1KR-DE engine, 3-cylinder, 1.0L. These machines are used on Ayla (65
PS) but the Hi-Max is smaller, namely 57 PS. Same torque, 85
Nm. Hi-Max has only one choice of transmission, 5-speed manual.
All variants pick up is already using rack and
pinion steering system, ventilated discs brake at the front, and drum brakes in the rear. Front suspension with MacPherson Strut supported plus coil,
while at the rear rigid axle with leaf springs. The entire tire wear 145R with
a rim size of 13 inches.
In the pick up market, Daihatsu Hi-Max fought with
Tata EX2, a 700 cc diesel pickup of Tata Motors Distribution
Indonesia.
