LDV e-G10

The all-electric LDV e-G10 has been unveiled at the Guangzhou motor show, becoming the Chinese manufacturer’s latest model in its expanding line-up. Powered by a 102 Hp and 380 Nm electric motor, the LDV e-G10 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under 14 seconds on its way to a top speed of 150 km/h. For short bursts, the electric motor has an overboost-like function that sees outputs double to 204 Hp and 800 Nm.

The e-G10 has a range of up to 200 km on a full charge and can can be charged in as little as 90 minutes (with fast charging). Supported by 50,000 charging points across China, the e-G10 is part of parent company SAIC’s commitment to reach 600,000 annual sales of cars and commercial vehicles by 2020.

The e-G10 looks largely the same as its conventionally-powered sibling, with the only change the new instrument cluster that features readouts for battery charge levels and power consumption.

LDV’s local arm hasn’t confirmed it will introduce the e-G10 in Australia yet, though it already has plans to test market electric versions of the larger V80 van here.

During the trial, the company will examine interest in a zero-emissions people mover that could be met by the e-G10.

Should the Chinese electric duo launch locally over the next year, it would beat Mercedes-Benz’s all-electric version of its next-generation Sprinter van, which has been confirmed for Australia sometime in 2018.
