New MG ZS
Set to debut at the 2016 Guangzhou
Auto Show, the new MG ZS carries a familiar look. Various Chinese Media outlets
have released a few images of the model ahead of its official unveiling, and by
the looks of it, the vehicle’s front end features a design similar to Mazda
CX-3 model, while the back is reminiscent of its upscale counterpart; the MG
GS.
Built on a shortened GS platform, the new MG is said
to rival models like the Nissan Juke. Under the
hood, it will supposedly feature the same engine as the GS, including a 130 hp,
1.5-litre petrol engine (mated to a speed six manual), as well as a 120 hp,
1.0-litre three-cylinder unit.
The car will also be
offered with an automatic transmission – possibly the same seven-speed DCT unit
found in the GS.
Although there’s no official word on its pricing,
speculations indicate that it will cost significantly less than its
competitors, starting from around 80,000 to 120,000 yuan in
China.
The ZS will be made available, eventually, in the
U.K. as well, although it will have a different name.
