New Norton V4 SS and V4 RR
Here is Norton's V4 SS and V4 RR, using an all-new
1200 cc engine making a reasonably astonishing claimed 200 bhp. Designed and
manufactured in Norton's factory in Derby, they feature a hand-built aluminium
frame which the firms says was developed from its SG5 TT race bike's chassis.
They feature the latest electronic witchcraft too,
with a six-axis inertial measurement unit feeding data like lean angle to
multi-setting traction-control, anti-wheelie, and launch control systems.
They've also got adjustable engine braking, a
quick-shifter with down-shift auto-blipper, riding modes, an on-board data
logging system and even cruise control. Bodywork is
carbon-fibre and available in 'raw carbon' finish or chrome, like the TT race bike. Carbon-fibre wheels are available on the top-spec V4
SS version, along with Ohlins NIX30 system forks and a TTXGP bespoke
Norton rear shock.
Norton is calling its new V4 'the most technologically
advanced British motorcycle ever made' and based on the specs we don't feel
much like arguing.
Unfortunately, the £ 44,000 V4 SS has already sold
out, with only 200 in the production run. Be quick and you might get a £ 28,000
V4 RR - but as a limited-edition they're likely to run out fast too.
Both are due to make their public debut at the
Motorcycle Live show at Birmingham's NEC this weekend.
