NextEV NIO EP9
While unveiling its global brand 'NIO', electric car
company NextEV also went ahead and launched their record-setting EP9 supercar,
a 1,360 PS electric vehicle that posted a blistering time of 7m 05,12 seconds
on the Nurburgring.
The new Nordschleife EV lap record was achieved on
October 12th, after which the EP9 went on to smash the EV record at Circuit
Paul Ricard in France by posting a time of 1m 52.78s.
The EP9 features four high-performance inboard
motors and four individual gearboxes, delivering a total of 1-MegaWatt of
power, equivalent to 1,360 PS. Its 777 V full electric powertrain also produces
an instant peak torque of 1,480 Nm at the motor and a whooping
6,334 Nm at the wheels from 0 to 7,500 rpm.
On paper, the EP9 can accelerate to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, to 200 km/h in 7.1 seconds and eventually max
out at 313 km/h. In terms of charging, it can be good to go in as
little as 45 minutes and has a range of 427 km. Other figures
released by the Chinese EV-maker include the EP9's 0-300 km/h sprint
time, which is 15.9 seconds, but also its 1/4 mile time of 10.1 seconds at 249
km/h.
The EP9 comes with a full length
floor diffuser, a front adjustable splitter for downforce during cornering, an
active rear wing with 3 positions (park, low drag, high downforce) and bespoke
19/21" (front/rear) wheels with carbon inlays.
In total, the NIO EP9 can generate 24,000 Newtons of
downforce, which is twice as much as a Formula 1 car.
