Nissan Note e-Power
Nissan revealed the Note e-Power, an electrified
version of the compact model which uses a new powertrain that combines the
Leaf’s EV technology with a petrol engine to charge the battery pack.
This way the Nissan Note e-Power is driven solely
from the electric motor alone, with the gasoline engine not connected to the
wheels at all. This is the first time a powertrain of this nature is mounted in
a compact model, with Nissan putting to good use the lessons learned from its
EV range.
Nissan will make it
available only to the Japanese market with the company reportedly planning to
use its powertrain in many of its upcoming models. Although the company didn’t
release any performance or economy figures yet, they claim that the Note
e-Power’s fuel efficiency is comparable to that of the leading conventional
hybrid models, especially within the city walls.
With Nissan already planning to axe the Note in
Europe, it’s safe to expect the new electrified powertrain show up in models
like the upcoming Micra and the next Juke and Qashqai models.
