Porsche 960
A report
coming from Car Magazine reveals that Porsche trademarked the 960.
Expected to
slot between the 911 and 918 Spyder, the German supercar might be underpinned
by a new lightweight platform, with rear- or all-wheel drive, made from
aluminum, titanium, high-strength steel and composites.
The
mid-mounted unit will be 3.9-liter quad-turbo flat-eight engine developing
around 650 horsepower with a variable compression system that will improve fuel
consumption, decrease CO2 emissions and offer better responses and smoother
running.
This recipe
could allow the Porsche 960 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5
seconds, when equipped with all-wheel drive. With the Ferrari 458 GTB,
Lamborghini Huracan and McLaren 650S in its sight, the supercar is expected to
be launched in 2019 and cost around £ 200,000.
