Proton Ertiga (teaser)
Proton Holdings Berhad confirmed, that its upcoming MPV would be called the Proton Ertiga. The
Suzuki Ertiga is being rebadged as a Malaysian car, and is the second company
after Mazda to badge engineer the Swift-based MPV that launched in India in
2012.
The Ertiga will be shipped to Malaysia from Suzuki’s
Indonesian assembly line. The three-row MPV is based on the facelifted Ertiga
but having minor changes to the rear of the car. Except the Proton badge, the front-end is identical to
the Suzuki.
The Proton Ertiga will compete the Perodua
Alza, Nissan Grand Livina and the Toyota Avanza, armed with the K14B 1.4-liter
petrol engine with 92 PS and 130 Nm, with an optional four-speed automatic
gearbox.
Suzuki Indonesia will ship some 1,500 units every
month to Malaysia, and would be its first CKD project.
