Proton Ertiga (teaser)

Proton Holdings Berhad confirmed, that its upcoming MPV would be called the Proton Ertiga. The Suzuki Ertiga is being rebadged as a Malaysian car, and is the second company after Mazda to badge engineer the Swift-based MPV that launched in India in 2012.

The Ertiga will be shipped to Malaysia from Suzuki’s Indonesian assembly line. The three-row MPV is based on the facelifted Ertiga but having minor changes to the rear of the car. Except the Proton badge, the front-end is identical to the Suzuki.

The Proton Ertiga will compete the Perodua Alza, Nissan Grand Livina and the Toyota Avanza, armed with the K14B 1.4-liter petrol engine with 92 PS and 130 Nm, with an optional four-speed automatic gearbox.

Suzuki Indonesia will ship some 1,500 units every month to Malaysia, and would be its first CKD project.
