Suzuki Wagon
R crossover
Suzuki had
already previewed such a product in the form of the Maruti Wagon R XRest at the
Auto Expo 2014. It featured a rugged body kit comprising of black plastic
moldings and silver skid guards on the front and rear bumpers, as well as the
sides of the Wagon R. It was also equipped with a new grille, projector
headlights, LED elements in taillights and faux air vents on both front
fenders.
It will likely be powered by the same 1.0L K10 engine found in the regular Wagon R, which produces 68 PS and 90 Nm of torque. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a 5-speed AMT is also offered.
The
introduction of the Wagon R crossover appears to be a response to shifting
market dynamics, wherein first time buyers are preffering entry-level small
cars with design traits of a crossover. The Renault Kwid and the forthcoming
Datsun redi-GO are perfect examples.
