Volkswagen Golf Mk7
facelift
Images of the facelifted
Mk7 Volkswagen Golf have surfaced online, courtesy of Autoblog.nl, which appear
to show the exterior revisions in standard, Variant wagon and GTI versions –
and at a glance, it will take some eagle eyes to spot the changes.
Perhaps the most obvious
change is in the headlamps, which is rumoured to be available as a full-LED
setup as optional equipment. Other exterior revisions include new wheel
designs, different front and rear bumpers, while the regular models will have
their exhaust outlets integrated into the rear bumper.
Inside, the facelifted
Golf is set to feature a new digital instrument cluster like the one in the B8
Passat, which is expected to be offered as optional equipment. A more advanced
infotainment system is also on the cards, said to incorporate gesture control
support as seen on the Golf R Touch concept at last year’s Consumer Electronics
Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
On the GTI, the front
bumpers appear to be given deeper and more pronounced intakes, while at the
rear it retains the now-familiar twin exhaust outlets, with the rear reflectors
positioned above the lowest bumper crease line. In these images, the updated
GTI rolls on a mildly restyled version of the five-spoke wheel on the current
mk7 GTI; as before, multiple choices of wheels can be expected.
Under the hood, the
standard Golf range is expected to replace the current 1.4 TSI petrol and 1.6
TDI diesel engines with new petrol and diesel units, both displacing 1.5
litres. No word on the facelifted GTI, but a revision of the existing 2.0
litre, direct-injection turbocharged petrol four can be expected.
