2016 Yamaha Tracer 700
Yamaha Europe has introduced a new model, called the
Tracer 700. Based on the FZ-07, much as
the FJ-09 is based on the FZ-09. The Tracer
700 expands Yamaha's involvement in the sport touring category, which also
includes the recently updated FJR1300.
The Tracer 700 uses the parallel-twin engine with
270-degree crossplane crankshaft from the FZ-07, and a similar chassis. The
swingarm has been lengthened by 50mm to improve stability at higher cruising
speeds with a passenger and luggage on board, and the suspension settings have
been revised. ABS is offered as standard equipment.
New bodywork includes a
manually adjustable windscreen, hand guards, and dual headlights, and fuel
capacity has been increased from 3.7 to 4.5 gallons. The FZ-07's two-piece seat
has also been replaced with a more plush one-piece unit with a slightly higher
seat height. In Europe, the Tracer 700 will be available in early
July, in three colors: Radical Red, Tech Black and Yamaha Blue.
As well as producing a unique and responsive engine
character that makes the Tracer 700 a true Sport Tourer, the 689 cc twin
cylinder design also makes class-leading levels of power and torque. Developing 74.8 PS @ 9,000 rpm, together with 68.0 Nm @ 6,500 rpm, the
new Tracer 700 offers strong sports performance for exciting cornering on
winding country roads. Then, when it's time to pack up and go, this versatile
bike is built to make light work of long distance touring.
