BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition
The BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition introduced originally at the
2016 Geneva Motor Show, is being displayed at the 2016 Thai Motor Expo.
The Protonic Red exterior colour
is contrasted with Frozen Grey Metallic accents. There are new W-spoke 470
light-alloy wheels finished in Orbit Grey Metallic, with hubs painted in
Aluminum Matte.
The BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition
gets some special treatment inside as well. The door sill strips have “Protonic
Red Edition” lettering, the seats feature double lap seams in red and there’s
red stitching on the door and side trim panels. The gear selector has black
ceramic detailing, and there are grey-coloured seat belts and specially
designed floor mats with leather piping and red contrast stitching to further
enhance the appeal.
The BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition
began production in July 2016 and will be available to order only till the end
of 2016. The BMW i8 was the company’s first production model to be powered by a
three-cylinder petrol engine.
Equipped with the BMW TwinPower
Turbo technology, this engine puts out 231 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The
combustion engine drives the rear wheels, while A hybrid synchronous electric
motor which generates 131 hp and 250 Nm of torque powers the front
axle. The second power source offers even zero emissions driving, of up to 37 km within the EU test cycle.
