Ken Okuyama Design Kode57 Enji
Ken Okuyama was
responsible for the likes of the Ferrari Enzo, Ferrari P4/5, Maserati
Quattroporte and more. Okuyama now runs his own design firm, and has introduced
the Kode57 Enji to the Quail Motorsports Gathering which preceded the Pebble
Beach Concours d’Elegance at the Monterey Car Week in California.
Given Okuyama’s chequered past
with Ferrari, the 6.0 litre V12 engine that resides in the front of the Enji,
which produces 611 hp and 607 Nm of torque, is most likely from the Ferrari 599
GTB Fiorano. The Ferrari connection doesn’t end there, surely.
Peering into the cabin, more 599
GTB cues are seen, with the previous-generation Ferrari steering wheel making
an appearance, as does a lightly tweaked Ferrari instrument cluster which now
resides in the centre of the dashboard, along with a selection of Ferrari
switchgear.
A staggered wheel diameter setup
of 21 inches in front and 22 inches at the back make up the rolling stock of
the one-off concept car, while its carbon-fibre construction helps peg the
car’s weight at 1,634 kg.
The
Enji is currently a one-off design concept, although Okuyama says he would love
to have a small production run of the two-seater speedster.
