Mitsubishi XM Concept
Mitsubishi is showcasing the XM crossover concept at the 2016 Thai
Motor Expo. It is Mitsubishi’s rendition of a 7-seat crossover that will
rival the Honda BR-V when it goes on sale in Indonesia next year.
The XM will be produced at the company’s new plant
in Indonesia, for which a total investment of US$ 600 million was made. The
Indonesian plant will be XM’s production hub, from where it would be exported
to ASEAN markets like Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and others.
Being a design study at this moment, concrete
details on the production-spec model have not been released. Designers have
summarized the styling as combining the ”toughness of an SUV with the
versatility of an MPV” with a stylish floating roof and Mitsubishi Motors’
Dynamic Shield front design.
Inside, the crossover MPV will offer
7-seats as an option, and features a wide body and an optimized interior layout
that will ensure class-leading interior space for seven occupants. Mitsubishi
says that the horizontal dashboard “accentuates the breadth of an MPV” and
“together with the wide elevated center console, black/white high-contrast
interior coloring, and silver accents the interior reflects a refined look.”
