Piper Moto Concept J
Born with the first Vespa in the mid-1940s, the model we are presenting today is
no exception. Not necessarily for his retro-futuristic lines tinted with blue,
but rather for the surprise hides under his double saddle: a KTM LC4 engine
borrowed from the already impressive Duke 690!
The progenitor of this amazing hybrid is the British John Piper.
After a long career as a mechanical engineer in motor sport (in competition F1,
WRC and dragster), he wished to put his experience to the benefit of the
manufacture of motorcycles and scooters. This is how the company PiperMoto and
this Concept J Series were born, a full-scale exercise aimed at demonstrating
its know-how in precision engineering.
The Piper J Series scooter has been crafted around the enormous
Austrian mono-cylinder (the most powerful with 67 hp), so John's technical
skills are no doubt. After drawing 250 detailed drawings in CAD software, he
opted for the most modern production methods: chromium-molybdenum steel mesh
chassis, light machined alloy parts machined in the mass, TIG welds.
The oscillating arm, the rear shock absorber and the double
aluminum radiator, all three made to measure, particularly force respect! The
goal being to generate interest, John wanted to offer his Concept J Series a
classic scooter look. A mission also carried out brilliantly: the fairings were
laid on paper before being prototyped in modeling clay and then made of epoxy
resin composites / carbon fibers.
The result is a kind of vintage super-scooter capable of reaching
the 193 km/h peak. John
Piper, whom you know now, expects that rich customers will contact him to give
life to their dream: Can design a motorcycle from A to Z according to the
specifications they will claim.
