WM Motors EV Car
A new Chinese automaker by the name of WM Motor has shown off its upcoming range of affordable electric vehicles. The company
was founded by Freeman Shen, a former chairman of Volvo China who was
instrumental in Geely acquiring the Swedish automaker. In last December, Shen
created WM which stands for Weltmesiter.
WM Motors aims to create mainstream vehicles that are cheap enough
for average consumers to buy even without government subsidies. In November,
the brand broke ground on a US$ 1 billion Chinese production facility and intends
on launching its first model in 2018 with an additional model launching every
year through to 2025.
So far, four concepts have been revealed. The first
is an MPV, the second an SUV, the third a high-riding estate and the fourth a
sedan. All four adopt very similar designs and have been created by the
automaker’s chief designer Sam Sun.
Details about the models are scarce but alongside
being fully electric, WM Motors says they will be highly connected, seemingly
similar then to upcoming models from Geely’s Lynk & Co mobility company. Expect to hear more about WM Motors in the coming
months.
