When it is its turn to receive a facelift, the
Yamaha R25 might also gain premium features like an upside down front forks and
slipper clutch.
The updated Yamaha R25
will not be getting Throttle by Wire, a feature which is available in the Honda
CBR250RR. Upside down front forks will
help the bike register better handling while the slipper clutch will add
directly on the performance front.
In comparison to the Honda CBR250RR, which is an
all-out mini sports bike, the Yamaha R25 seems dated. The Honda, with 38.7 PS
of output, is the most powerful quarter litre motorcycle. The Yamaha’s 249 cc in-line twin cylinder mill is
coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of 36 PS of maximum power
at 12.000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of peak torque at 10,000 rpm. The bike tips the
scales at 166 kg and gets telescopic springs up front and a monoshock in the
rear.
This development also fuels speculation that the
next version of the Yamaha R3 may get these features as the R3 is essentially a
rebored version of the R25. The quarter-litre is also expected to be gain LED
headlamps. The Yamaha R25 facelift could be officially revealed in the second
half of 2017.
