Yamaha will reveals world launch of new £ 9399 TMax
in Cape Town. It’s the maxi-scooter’s first major overhaul since it was
released in 2001 (and growing from 499cc to 530cc along the way). It’s 9 kg
lighter and features a new die-cast aluminium frame, a 40 mm longer swingarm, a
new rear suspension linkage, shock and revised steering geometry.
The 45bhp, parallel twin cylinder machine also gets
ride-by-wire for the first time, traction control, a new exhaust and
lightweight carbon fibre transmission belt and pulleys, a new TFT dash,
switchgear, keyless ignition, a centre stand lock and enough underseat storage
for two helmets.
A top-spec DX (£ 10,699) version comes with an
adjustable rear shock, cruise control, electronic power modes, an
electronically adjustable screen, heated seat and grips.
The out-going TMax was a commuter's dream and the
last word in easy speed, comfort and practicality. This new model promises to
add an extra layer of safety, poise and refinement.
