The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback finally makes its launch debut in Thailand, where it is offered in a sole 1.5L Turbo CVT variant only, priced at 1,169,000 baht.

Under the hood, the L15B7 1.5 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 173 PS at 5,500 rpm and 220 Nm of torque from 1,700 to 5,500 rpm, identical to what is offered by the sedan version. Similar to the Civic Sedan, an Earth Dreams CVT is paired with the engine, the only transmission offering available for the Civic Hatchback.

The Civic Hatchback’s styling is differed from the sedan with unique front and rear bumpers that have large, faux inlets and outlets, the latter of which is fitted with fog lamps. Meanwhile, the shortened rear hosts a tailgate and roof spoiler and C-shaped taillights.

Dimension wise, the hatchback shares the same width (1,798 mm) and wheelbase (2,700 mm) as the sedan, albeit being taller (1,435 mm vs 1,415 mm) and obviously, shorter (4,518 mm vs 4,630 mm). The hatchback also trades a little rear-seat passenger space for extra cargo room, where a claimed 727 litres is available with the rear seats up, against the sedan’s 519 litres.

Exterior equipment fitted to the Thailand-spec Civic Hatchback include 17-inch alloy wheels (with 215/50 tyres), full-LED headlights (with LED DRLs and automatic on/off function), LED fog lamps, body-coloured side mirrors and door handles, and a shark fin antenna.

The cabin is identical to that found in the sedan, and includes items such as dual-zone air-conditoning, TFT-LCD instrument display, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit (with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity), paddle shifters, multi-function steering wheel, and black leather upholstery.

Honda’s Smart Key System, push engine start, remote engine start, cruise control, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, reverse camera, and powered front seats are some of convenient features specified for the car as well. Safety-wise, the Civic Hatchback comes with six airbags (dual front, side, and curtain), Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, ABS with EBD, and auto brake hold.

For the Thailand market, the Civic Hatchback is offered with a choice of five different exterior body colours – Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Orchid White Pearl (10,000 baht), Crystal Black Pearl (6,000 baht), and Black Burgundy Night Pearl, the last of which is a new colour there, and costs an additional 6,000 baht.
