Honda has confirmed that the all-new CR-V for the
Thailand market will come with the brand’s 1.6L i-DTEC Turbo engine for the
first time, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The launch of the CR-V is expected to take place in Thailand as early as
the end of March, ahead of the 2017 Bangkok International Motor Show.
The i-DTEC mill features a two-stage turbocharger
system, “which intelligently creates high torque and acceleration to be the
most efficient in all driving conditions.” The engine
produces 160 hp at 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.
With the nine-speed auto, the fuel consumption is
claimed to be at 18.9 km/l, while the CO2 emission rate is at 141 g/km. In
other markets like the United States, the CR-V is only offered with a choice of
two petrol engines.
The first is a 2.4 litre naturally-aspirated direct
injection four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine (184 hp/244 Nm), while the
other is a 1.5 litre turbocharged direct injection four-cylinder DOHC VTC (190
hp/243 Nm). Both petrol options, unlike the diesel mill, can only be had with a
CVT.
