Mercedes Benz India has announced the prices
of the first RHD Mercedes E Class long wheelbase (L213). The base E 200 petrol
is priced at INR 56.15 Lakhs, while the top-end E 350d diesel will retail at
INR 69.47 Lakhs (both ex-showroom Mumbai, pre octroi).
It may be nearly six lakhs more expensive than its
predecessor, but what the new E Class brings to the table aims to justify the
dearer price tag. It’s only available in long wheelbase, measuring over 5
meters long, thus offering 134 mm of legroom for rear seat occupants. The rear
seats come with electric recline and headrest adjustment with memory, a
separate zone for the climate control, a 13-speaker 590W Burmester sound system
and a panoramic sunroof.
The exterior and interior borrow heavy inspiration
from the Mercedes S Class, featuring a cleaner, more contemporary design. Some
of the highlight features in the top-end E 350d include LED headlamps with LED
DRLs, LED taillamps with Stardust effect, a high-resolution 12.3-inch Mercedes’
COMAND online infotainment system, mini touchpads on the steering wheel, AIR
BODY air suspension system, tri-zone climate control and ARTICO leather
upholstery.
The E 200 petrol packs a 2.0-litre turbocharged
petrol developing 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque, while the E350 d diesel is
powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel developing 258 hp and 620 Nm of torque. A
9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission is standard in both model, which
shuffles power to the rear wheels.
