Something interesting is brewing over at
Honda, if these spyshots are to be believed. The photos show an undisguised
concept of some form, a speedster that appears to be mid-engined, but smaller
than the NSX, bigger than S660.
Although the nose is much lower than the NSX, the
mystery show car shares many of the supercar’s design details, including
slit-like headlights, a large front grille flanked by twin air intakes, massive
side scoops aft of the doors and an aggressive rear end with slim tail lights,
gaping vents and a sizeable diffuser. The centre exhausts exit between the tail
lights McLaren-style, and orange Volk Racing TE37 wheels add a touch of pop.
The concept looks very similar to a car
shown in patent images unearthed in 2015, albeit with a different rear end.
It was rumoured that it would feature a 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo engine
paired to an NSX-style three-motor hybrid system, delivering a total output of
around 300 hp.
The use of a mid-engined hybrid setup, as well as
the ZSX name trademarked by Honda last year, mean that the car would likely be
marketed as a “baby” NSX, rather than an outright S2000 successor.
