Isuzu Malaysia has launched the new D-Max 3.0L 4×4 Single Cab, which it says is the only single-cab pick-up truck available with a 3.0 litre turbodiesel engine in Malaysia.

The 4JJ1-TCX 3.0 litre turbodiesel is identical to that on the double-cab D-Max offerings, and continues to provide 177 PS at 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm at 1,800 to 2,800 rpm. A five-speed manual is the only transmission option available here, along with a four-wheel drive system.

The single-cab D-Max gets an improved heavy duty leaf spring rear suspension setup to cope with the load it’ll carry over a variety of terrain. The front suspension continues to employ a double wishbone setup with coil springs.

On the exterior, which is only available in Magnum White, there is a black front bumper, 16-inch steel wheels (with 245/70 tyres), reflector halogen headlights and black-painted powered side mirrors. The pick-up also adopts the facelifted fascia of its double-cab siblings, albeit with a larger flatbed at the back.

Inside, you’ll find a single-DIN head unit with CD and MP3 playback as well as AUX and USB media inputs. Power windows, central locking, a 4×4 controller dial and single-zone manual air-conditioning are also part of the interior kit list.

Safety-wise, the D-Max Single Cab comes with ABS, EBD, brake assist, hill start assist (HSA), traction control, and electronic stability control (ESC). These items come standard on the double-cab D-Max range as well.

The D-Max 3.0L 4×4 Single Cab retails for RM 87,530.40 (on-the-road price without insurance) and comes with a five-year/150,000 km warranty and the Isuzu Doctor Mobile service. Optional accessories for the pick-up include a bed liner that’ll set you back an additional RM 1,060.

Isuzu Malaysia also offers the D-Max Single Cab with the 4JK1-TCX 2.5 litre turbodiesel, which develops 136 PS at 3,600 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1,800 to 2,800 rpm. There’s only a five-speed manual here, but you get to choose between 4×4 (RM 80,901.20) and 4×2 (RM 60,360.10) drive systems.
