At the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen teased a number future vehicles that will arrive later
this year. The latter included the VW T-Roc concept‘s production version.
From the teaser image, the VW T-Roc looks roughly
the size of the Audi Q2. Both have similar proportions, but the Audi Q2 is
sportier with a coupe-esque roofline. The Volkswagen has a rather flattish
roofline typical of an SUV and even roof rails to complement that. Pronounced
wheel arches further add to the SUV appeal.
The VW T-Roc will ride on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB
A0 platform and sit between the VW T-Cross Breeze concept‘s production version
and the VW Tiguan. The sub-compact SUV is expected to include 1.0-litre TSI and
1.5-litre TSI Evo petrol units and 1.6-litre TDI and 2.0-litre TDI diesel units
in the range of options. Transmission choices may include 6-speed manual and
7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Select models will likely have availability of
the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. Derivatives may include a plug-in hybrid
variant and even a pure electric variant.
With the ruling out of the MQB A0 platform for India
all but official, one cannot expect the T-Breeze or the T-ROC in India.
