Naza Euro Motors is set to bring in DS brand into Malaysia. The company showed off the DS5 at Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC) this week. The
order books have already been opened, with an estimated price of RM 198,888
on-the-road with insurance. A five-year/120,000 km manufacturer warranty will
be included in the price.
The new car can be differentiated from the outgoing
model through a new “DS Wings” front grille that bleeds into the xenon
headlights – the latter feature new graphics and LED modules and sequential
indicators, as seen on the revised DS3. The side intakes have also been
slightly reshaped, while the 18-inch wheels have been given a new “Adelaide”
two-tone turbine design, and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres.
The interior
does receive a new Touchdrive infotainment system, controlling everything from
navigation to music. The seven-inch touchscreen streamlines the control layout,
with 12 fewer buttons on the centre console. Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink
connectivity has also been added.
In terms of kit, blind spot monitoring joins the
same level of standard equipment as before, including keyless entry,
push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a glass roof with three
skylights, Bluetooth connectivity, a head-up display, a six-speaker, 100W Denon
sound system and six airbags.
The 1.6 litre Prince THP turbo four-cylinder petrol
engine now produces 165 PS at 6,000 rpm, 9 PS more than before, while peak
torque remains steady at 240 Nm from 1,400 rpm. With an updated six-speed
automatic transmission, the DS5 has a fuel consumption figure of 5.9 litres per
100 km combined and emits 30 g less carbon dioxide per km than before, at 135 g
per km.
On the chassis side, the dampers now feature
preloaded linear valves (PLV) for more linear damping and a longer compression
stroke, while suspension impact noise has been reduced.
