Jeep has revealed the Indian-spec 2017 Jeep Compass in a product introduction video. Set to arrive in India on 12 April 2017, the new generation Jeep Compass is underpinned by the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X’s Small-Wide 4X4 platform.

The all-new Jeep Compass measures 4,410 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,630 mm. The Indian-spec version should get only two, probably the 1.4 FIRE MultiAir 2 petrol and 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel turbocharged units. Global markets get the 1.4-litre engine with 6-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission in the 4×2 model and 9-speed automatic transmission in the 4×4 model. The 2.0-litre engine is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, with the 9-speed automatic transmission optional in the 4×4 model.

The 2017 Jeep Compass is offered in Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk grades internationally, but reports say that the configuration frozen for India does not include the Trailhawk. Projector-beam headlamps with LED signature lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED signature tail lamps, power liftgate, dual-pane sunroof, 7.0-inch full colour LED instrument cluster, Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 9-speaker BeatsAudio Premium II audio system with a 12-channel amplifier and a subwoofer are some of the noteworthy features of the all-new Compass.

The 2017 Jeep Compass will roll-out from the Tata Motors-Fiat joint venture’s plant in Ranjangaon near Pune this month as the company’s first locally-made vehicle. The compact SUV will see ~80% localisation right from the first day of production. India will serve as the global production hub for the right-hand drive version. Introductory prices will reportedly begin at INR 16 lakh.
