The 2017 Skoda Octavia (facelift) has been spied
testing in India for the first time by a Team-BHP member, donning no camouflage
whatsoever. Its reported to launch in India this June and, like the current
Octavia will be assembled in Aurangabad.
What is an easy giveaway in the spy shot is the
quartet of headlights, which has generated polarising opinions among readers.
Other changes to the exterior include a slightly revised ‘butterfly’ grille, a
restyled bumper-wide intake with new foglamps, and an updated LED-powered
C-shaped taillight cluster.
Inside, the new Octavia will retain the current
dashboard, seats, steering wheel and other features of the current Skoda, while
the instrument dials will be similar to the ones in the Skoda Superb and
flanking a new multi-info colour display. It is unlikely that India-spec
Octavia will get the all new 9.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display with Columbus
navigation otherwise offered in the top-end Euro version.
Engine options of the new Octavia will be carried
over from the outgoing car which includes a 1.4 TSI petrol, 1.8 TSI petrol and
2.0 TDI diesel engines. A 6-speed manual, 6-speed DSG automatic and 7-speed DSG
automatic will be the choices of transmission.
