Volkswagen Motorsport India has revealed the
race-spec version of the VW Ameo sub-4m sedan, which will compete in the
one-make Ameo Cup 2017 series this year.
The Ameo Cup Car gets the bigger 1.8-litre TSI engine that
produces 205 PS of power at 6100 rpm and 320 Nm of peak torque between 3200 to
4600 rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed racing sequential gearbox with paddle
shifters behind the steering wheel.
The braking system has 334 mm ventilated discs for
the front tyres and 232 mm discs at the back, supplemented by Racing ABS. It
also has a limited slip differential up front, while the front suspension comes
with McPherson Struts and 2-way adjustable KW dampers. For better downforce at
the back, the Ameo Cup Car has a large wing mounted on the boot lid.
We will start seeing the Ameo Cup in action this
June at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, before moving to MMRT in Chennai
for a couple of rounds, and end at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in
Noida.
