The Audi
RS4 Avant has been spied again, this time on public roads around
the Nurburgring. The next-generation high performance wagon will once
more sport a wider track, and flared front and rear wheel arches. Lowered
suspension, all-wheel drive, and subtly aggressive front and rear bumpers will
also part of the deal.
Gone is the old model’s naturally-aspirated
4.2-litre V8, replaced with a new 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 that develops 600 Nm
of torque between 1900 and 5000 rpm, as well as 450 Hp of power. That means that the new RS5 and RS4 will have 170 Nm
more torque than their predecessors.
Equipped with the V6, the new RS5 coupe is able to
race from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds, or 0.8 seconds quicker than before. The new
RS4 Avant may a bit little slower to the performance milestone due to its
larger body and longer wheelbase.
It’s likely that the new RS4 Avant will make its
debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September. If that turns out to be the
case, the fast wagon won’t go on sale in Australia until some time in 2018.
