As Jeep continues testing the fourth-generation Jeep
Wrangler, spy shots of a test mule have surfaced online again. The model seen
in the latest spy shots, courtesy Ferd Fanpage, is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler
Unlimited (five-door variant).
The fourth-gen Jeep Wrangler features an evolutionary design and retains its boxy proportions and signature
cues. The redesigned model, with possible minor changes in the dimensions, will
feature the 7-slot grille, round headlamps and trapezoidal wheel arches. The
all-new Wrangler will have a more raked windshield and fully removable doors
and roof.
The next-gen will
have solid axles and a ladder-frame chassis to maintain the ruggedness and
off-road capability Jeep enthusiasts expect from the model. The redesigned
model will have a longer wheelbase. It
should have the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine under the hood, but
mild-hybrid, diesel and hybrid options will follow later during the lifecycle.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will debut later this year
and enter production in November. While the U.S. launch could take place by the
end of 2017, Indian launch may take about a year, as the production of the
outgoing model will continue alongside for about half a year reportedly.
