The LDV T60 is the Chinese company’s first entrant
into the booming commercial ute segment. The company has also
confirmed it is now targeting a September launch for Australia, around a month
earlier than previously expected.
The T60 will be offered in two trim levels. The first will be a more
basic version aimed at workhorse commercial use, while the second is a
fully-specified variant geared towards families and lifestyle customers.
While pricing is yet to be revealed, all versions
of the T60 will be offered with a
2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, developing 150 hp of power and
360 Nm of torque, mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic
depending on trim level and drivetrain. Two- and four-wheel drive versions will
be offered, with the latter including a low-range mode for more serious
off-road use.
A choice of three body styles will be available as
well – single cab, double cab and cab chassis – while a larger mega cab could
be on the cards somewhere down the track. Equipment highlights will include LED
headlights with integrated LED daytime-running lights, a 360-degree camera
system and lane departure warning depending on model.
On the safety front, the T60 will feature six
airbags – including curtain inflators that extend to the second row where
applicable – and the usual suite of safety aids like stability control,
traction control, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution.
Chinese-market versions will also feature a large
10.0-inch central infotainment display with features like
satellite navigation. It’s unclear at this stage if Australia will get a
similar system.
