Swiss company Elextra claims it has the world’s
fastest-accelerating car, reaching 97 km/h in less than 2.3 seconds. If
true, this would see the Tesla Model S P100D’s official time of 2.4 seconds
knocked off top spot. Power for the new unnamed supercar will be to all four
wheels, with an electric motor on each axle.
Founder of Classic Factory in Switzerland, Robert
Palm, is also founder and CEO of Elextra, and the man responsible for the car’s
striking design. In 2013, he was also the brains behind the Lyonheart K, a
modern take on the Jaguar E-Type.
The four-seater four-door will be hand-built in
Stuttgart, Germany, by an as yet unnamed company, with only 100 examples to be
offered.
Palm said the company will use “well-proven existing components for the
electric drivetrain,” which could suggest the car will be built upon Tesla’s
platform and electric drive system.
Further details are to be released over the coming
months and because of the limited numbers, investors are encouraged to register
their interest.
