The Lamborghini CEO, Stefano
Domenicali delivered a new Huracan Polizia to the police force. Primarily used in highway patrol service in Bologna,
Italy, the police vehicle features the
traditional array of police equipment – gun holster, portable extinguisher,
standard VHF police radio and hooks for retaining the classic red-and-white,
hand-held stop sign used to stop vehicles safely.
It also comes equipped with an on-board system
consisting of a tablet accompanied by a computer, recording equipment and a
video camera. More importance is the 5.2 litre naturally-aspirated V10
engine, which produces 610 hp and 560 Nm, more than enough to pursue most
traffic offenders on the road.
However, when the Huracan Polizia is not patrolling
the highways, it can also serve as a first aid and emergency medical transport
vehicle. Aside from an on-board defibrillator, the Huracan also gets a special
refrigeration system in the luggage compartment for the urgent transport of
organs and blood to hospitals.
The Italian carmaker points out that in 2016, a
number of transport operations were performed with the Lamborghini cars
operated by the Italian Police (April and July), meaning this isn’t just for
wayang.
The Huracan Polizia wears the official colours of
the Italian Police (Police Medium Blue), with shades of white and lettering to
match. The livery is enhanced by a series of stripes that feature the colours
of the Italian flag, which runs along both sides of the vehicle.
