Following the rendering of the Maruti Dzire with a
regular boot, IAB’s Shoeb R Kalania has finished a rendering of the Dzire with
a fastback.
If you squint your
eyes, it does look like a Maruti Baleno, due to the ‘Liquid Flow’ design lines
and colour. With this approach, Maruti can further extend the wheelbase for
class-leading legroom, but at the cost of boot capacity.
At the tape, the new Dzire measures 3,995 mm in
length, 1,735 mm in width and 1,515 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450
mm. Compared to the previous car, it is 40 mm wider and has a 20 mm longer
wheelbase compared to the outgoing model. The ground clearance, however, has
gone down 7 mm to 163 mm.
The new Dzire will retain the outgoing Swift Dzire’s
engine options, which include the 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 84.3 PS
and 115 Nm of torque and the 1.3-litre diesel engine that develops 75 PS and
190 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 5-speed manual and 5-speed
automated manual for both variants. Fuel efficiency is expected to cross the
26.59 km/l and 20.85 km/l mileage figures of the outgoing car’s diesel and
petrol versions, thanks to the new HEARTECT lightweight platform that has
shaved up to 105 kg compared to the outgoing vehicle.
