The updated 2017 BMW M3 range has been bolstered by
the addition of a new entry-level M3 Pure variant, which will start from AUD 129,900 when it arrives locally in July. Despite being the ‘base model’, the
M3 Pure gets the more powerful 450 Hp/550 Nm tune of the
flagship M3 Competition variant, though it has a lower level of standard
specification.
Starting from AUD 129,900 (all prices exclude on-road
costs), the M3 Pure gets 19-inch double-spoke light alloy wheels finished in
black wrapped in 255/35 R19 front and 275/35 R19 rear tyres, BMW M head-up
display (HUD), carbon-fibre roof, comfort access, ConnectedDrive Freedom
including concierge services, Driving Assistant, carbon-fibre interior trims,
Navigation System Professional, tyre pressure monitor, cloth/leather
upholstery, LED headlights and a nine-speaker soundsystem. Optionally available
on the M3 Pure are the Competition model’s 20-inch star-spoke alloy wheels,
shod with 265/30 R20 front and 285/30 R20 rear rubber.
All M3 variants get the upgraded iDrive 6
infotainment system, which includes a customisable 8.8-inch display which can
be controlled by both touch inputs and the standard rotary dial on the centre
console.
The M3 and M3 Competition also pick up minor updates
for 2017, including adaptive LED headlights with a new daytime-running light
signature than extends from the grille – much like the 3 Series LCI range which
launched last year – along with upgraded interior trim elements. The M3 Competition also gets the option of black 20-inch star-spoke
light alloy wheels for the first time, which is also available on the M3 Pure
and M3 at extra cost. All M3 models also get illuminated ‘M3’ badging on the
front of the M sports seats.
The M3 and M3 Competition sedans are available now,
while the M3 Pure will join the range from July.
