Chevrolet has confirmed the launch of the 2017
Chevrolet Beat in India, pouring cold water on rumours of an exit from the
Indian market. GM will launch the 2017 Chevrolet
Beat in India on the third week of July.
The next-gen Chevrolet Beat features a front fascia
inspired by the latest Chevrolet Spark sold internationally. The all-new Beat’s design is a more a facelift than a full
redesign. The proportions are also largely unchanged. On the inside, the 2017
Chevrolet Beat will feature a two-tone colour scheme, matte silver centre
console, chrome garnish around the HVAC vents, semi-digital instrument cluster
and Chevrolet MyLink2 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The next-gen Chevrolet Beat will ride on the
outgoing model’s M300 platform, meaning that it will not have extensive
mechanical changes. The current model’s 78 PS 1.2-litre
four-cylinder petrol engine and 57 PS)1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel
engine should find their place even under the next-gen model’s hood, in
conjunction with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The basic variant of the present Chevrolet Beat
costs INR 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The next-gen Chevrolet Beat could
start around INR 4 lakh (ex-showroom), and it will rival the Ford Figo, Honda
Brio, Hyundai Grand i10 and the Maruti Celerio.
