Australian pricing and initial details for the new
2017 Honda Civic hatch range have been detailed. Starting at AUD 22,390 plus on-road costs, the Civic hatch range comprises
of five variants – VTi, VTi-S, VTi-L, RS and VTi-LX, with
all models coming standard with a continuously-variable transmission (CVT).
All models come standard with body-coloured upper
tailgate spoiler, black lower rear spoiler, along with piano black front grille
and B-pillar finishes.
The sporty RS variant gets a full body kit in piano
black including a front spoiler, side skirts and rear under spoiler, along with
dark chrome exterior door handles. Further distinguishing the RS hatch from its
more tame brethren, along with the RS sedan, are its Type R-inspired
centrally-mounted twin exhaust system finished with chrome tips. Pricing across
the range mirrors that of the sedan, with the exception of the RS hatch, which
demands a AUD 500 premium over its sedan counterpart.
VTi and VTi-S models are powered by a
naturally-aspirated 142 Hp/174 Nm 1.8-litre petrol engine, while the VTi-L, RS
and VTi-LX feature the company’s new 1.5-litre turbo four, producing 172 Hp and
220 Nm. All models send drive to the front wheels.
With the exception of the unique exterior features
mentioned above, equipment levels for the Civic hatch largely mirror the
equivalent sedan range. Read our pricing and specs story here. The Honda Civic
hatch range goes on sale in May.
