Volkswagen has launched the 2017 VW Golf MkVII
(facelift) in South Africa at prices ranging between ZAR 289,900 to ZAR
545,800. It will be sold in three variants: Trendline, Comfortline and GTI.
The new Golf embraces a minor facelift that
incorporates restyles bumpers, standard halogen headlights with LED daytime
running lights, reshaped central radiator intake and new full LED tail lights.
Comfortline models can be had with an optional stylish R-Line exterior package.
The top-end GTI variant gets dual LED headlamps, characteristic red
embellisher, more aggressive bumper, chrome-finished dual exhaust pipes and
18-inch ‘Milton Keynes’ alloy wheels.
The changes inside the regular Golf variants are
minimal, featuring a 6.5-inch Composition Colour Radio System with Touchscreen,
USB, Bluetooth Connectivity and 8-speakers as standard, while the GTI gets an
8.0-inch Composition Media Radio System. The Active Info Display and 9.2-inch
Discover Pro Navigation System are available as options.
In South Africa, the 2017 VW Golf is available with
a 1.0 TSI with 110 Hp, a 1.4 TSI with 125 Hp, and a 2.0 TSI with 230 Hp. The 1.0
TSI is only available with a 6-speed manual, while the 1.4 TSI and 2.0 TSI in
GTI come equipped with a 7-speed DSG. As for the 2.0 TDI with 110 Hp and the
Golf R’s 2.0L TSI with 290 Hp and the all-new GTD with 177 Hp, VW has confirmed
that they will be introduced in the second half of the year.
