The new Geely Yuanjing X1 has been launched on the Chinese car market,
price starts at 39.900 yuan and ends at 57.900 yuan. The Yuanjing X1 is a small
crossover hatchback with the typical Geely grille, proper roof rails, and shiny
racy wheels. It is aimed at young first-car buyers in small cities.
The Yuanjing X1 is based on the
Geely Panda. Same platform, same engines, same body. Geely’s designers did a
great job turning the old cat into the new X1; recycling is an art.
The X1 was available with a 68 hp 1.0-liter and 88 hp 1.3 liter engines. Mate by 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Power
goes to the front wheels. Dimension size was 3778/1663/1519 mm, and wheelbase in 2353 mm.
Geely really did its best on the inside and it
shows, this must be the bets looking interior of the segment. Orange over black
color scheme looks great, flat bottomed steering wheel is cool, and there are
perforated pedals to get just a little bit more speed out of that 88 hp motor.
The main screen is a massive 11.6 inch, easily the
biggest in class. It controls everything from the air conditioning to sat nav
to radio, and it is equipped with Wifi. Since the X1 is aimed at the young the
operating system has a ‘cool’ name: X-FUN.
The Geely Yuanjing X1 is clearly not entirely new,
but its low price, crossy looks and techy dashboard should help it to find some
buyers.
