Chinese carmaker Haval, has confirmed its bold HB-03
concept unveiled at this year’s Shanghai motor show, will go into production.
Further, the company’s Australian arm has confirmed the all-new, coupe-styled
SUV will make its way Down Under in 2020.
The petrol-electric hybrid crossover first made its
debut as the HB-02 concept at the 2016 Beijing motor show before this year’s
updated concept which moved the crossover SUV a step closer to production.
Designed by former BMW designer Pierre Leclercq, the
concept is powered by hybrid drivetrain featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged
petrol engine coupled to an electric motor and transmission powered by a
rear-mounted NCM lithium-ion battery, Total power output is a claimed 272 Hp with 450 Nm of torque while sipping a claimed and miserly 2.1L/100km of petrol.
In Pure Electric mode, the 13kWh battery powers the
95kW/278 Nm electric motor to a claimed EV range of 65 km. Haval also claims the
battery can be totally recharged in around four hours utilising a standard
household power point.
