The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is in its second phase. The
seven-seater is now locally assembled in Indonesia, and the new CKD variant
will be sold alongside those imported from Thailand.
Local assembly at the new Cikarang plant brings
savings and greater value, and the CKD Pajero Sport Dakar 4X2 Ultimate variant
introduces plenty of new kit to the equation.
The active safety equipment list is particularly
impressive for this type of car, with Forward Collision Mitigation System,
Blind Spot Warning, Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System and Adaptive
Cruise Control all standard along with seven airbags, five more than the five
imported variants.
Also in is a nine-inch roof-mounted monitor that’s
connected to the front 2-DIN head unit and audio system. Small but meaningful
improvements include the addition of a door lock button on the driver’s door
panel and illuminated power window switches. This variant has a beige interior
with wood trim for a traditional luxury feel.
There’s also a tailgate spoiler, but the Pajero
Sport’s striking exterior – with those “long-tail” signature rear lights and
Dynamic Shield face is otherwise unchanged.
The powertrain remains unchanged, which
comprises a 2.4 litre MIVEC turbodiesel with 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque, mated
to an eight-speed automatic transmission with steering paddle shifters. The
Pajero Sport Dakar 4X2 Ultimate is priced at IDR 549 million (US$ 40,667).
