The Peugeot
Traveller has now been sighted in Malaysia. The MPV might be locally
assembled in Gurun, Kedah for both local and export markets, although this is
subject to demand.
The Traveller seen here appears to be specified with
the Allure trim package, based on the design of wheels fitted. Referring to the
Peugeot UK website, these items are 17 inches in size, and accompanied by
chrome inserts for the door handles.
No specific details on what is powering this
particular Traveller, but we do know that a range of BlueHDi turbodiesel
engines are available, from 1.6 to 2.0 litres in capacity. Subject to engine
choice, a six-speed manual or automatic transmission can be fitted (base engine
gets a five-speed manual). Outputs range from 94 hp/210 Nm to 174 hp/400 Nm,
with the most powerful option churning out more torque compared to the Alphard’s 2GR-FE 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine (267 hp and 340
Nm).
The Traveller, which rides on PSA’s Efficient
Modular Platform (EMP2), can be had in three lengths – Compact (4,606 mm),
Standard (4,956 mm) and Long (5,309 mm). The former comes with a wheelbase
2,930 mm long, whereas the remaining two versions have a wheelbase of 3,275 mm
instead.
Up to nine seats can be fitted inside the Traveller
across three rows, depending on the layout specified. As for storage capacity,
there’s 1,500 litres of boot space, or up to 4,900 litres thanks to removable
second and third row seats.
